Alex Nunnally graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996. He furthered his eduation at Wegner Metal Arts, a sculpture foundry, where he expanded his knowledge of all aspects of metal casting, including investment, metal chasing, welding, and mouldmaking.
